It's ALIVE!!!!

Tiffany has begun cultivating Kefir....yep, that was my reaction too!  Kefir is a living grain that you "grow" in milk. (The information in this post is strictly personal thoughts and may not be factual)  The product after 12-24 hours is a bubbly frothy concoction that Dr. Frankenstein would be proud of.  Watching my wife squish out the thick white mucousy liquid from the grains, I swore I would not let that enter my body or even touch my cup!  After a few batches and some, "drink it, it's healthy!" coaxing from my caring wife....I tried some.  It had been a longer brewing batch and fermented into a twisted version of white russian.  Tiffany was kind enough to blend in some strawberries, but the aftertaste was reminiscent of drinking farm cheese.  Mmmmm.  We will continue to experiment and are going to try and make yogurt and cheese out of the Kefir.
On a scientific note, Kefir is indeed extremely healthy for you.  It contains live bacterium that populate in your digestive tract and help you get out all of those yummy nutrients in the foods you eat.  It also boosts your immune system, and fights against things like E. Coli and Salmonella.  Thanks for reading!
